X3 Editor (X3E) is program for editing various files used by the game X3 Reunion. It can edit most of T files, universe maps and text resource files.
History
History of X3 Editor is pretty simple: it is derived from X2 Editor - similar program designed for X2 - The Threat.
They share the same design and their functionality is almost the same, however X3 Editor is more advanced in several ways.
X3 Editor and Windows Vista
X3 Editor runs under Windows Vista without any known problems, the only exception being the Galaxy Editor.
Under Vista, opening any map in GE results in error message "Failed to initialize DirectDraw". The workaround is to open Settings and in the Graphics tab uncheck the Use Direct Draw option.
